Two new training courses dedicated to young people to combat school dropout and bring together job supply and demand in the field of mechanics and mechatronics. This is the objective of the collaboration agreement between the metropolitan city of Rome and the capital Love Spa aimed at strengthening and redefining public professional training paths for young people of school age. The agreement was signed this morning in the Campidoglio between the mayor of Rome, Roberto Gualtieri and the general director of Ama, Alessandro Filippi. The project, which involves the redevelopment of 6 metropolitan centers for professional training, is aimed at young people between 14 and 18 who will be able to enroll in two new training courses for mechanical operators and mechatronics technicians. Ama, in this first phase, will support the setting up of two laboratories equipped with the necessary instruments and technologies at the Cave and Civitavecchia centres. In these two structures, the Capitoline municipal company will play the role of sponsor and host company, making the skills of its technical and managerial staff available and planning guided tours and possible internships in its workshops and factories. The agreement is entering the operational phase and in the next few weeks the parties will begin collaboration to launch shared training courses.
“With this agreement we bring together the demand and supply of work with active policies in social groups characterized by high school dropout and failure to enter the job market – stated Mayor Gualtieri -. With AMA we relaunch three training centers, two of which in the metropolitan city and one in Rome, which allow us to set up workshops and training courses useful for the development of Ama as a large ecological and circular economy operator. We want to expand the professional training of our young people also on advanced machinery and technologies, thus supporting the industrial dimension of the territory – added Gualtieri -. Ama will have two anaerobic biodigesters, plants for the dry fraction and sweeping waste. But the collection is also done with innovative means that we would like to feed with the biogas produced by the biodigesters. It is therefore no longer just a question of mechanics but of mechatronics: it is very important and will become increasingly so to support monitoring and services. Specialist skills are needed and we offer quality job prospects,” he concluded.
“Ama is on a path of strengthening in terms of form, it is a national player in the waste field and we are in the process of normalization – explained the general director of Ama, Alexander Philippi -. The action being carried out with plant engineering fits into this, with solutions in the field of mechanics and mechatronics. The company must be attractive for the territory, towards a circular economy model. The professional figures we are looking for are mechanical worker and mechatronic worker. They are interested in us for plant engineering and sensors because our plants want to transform waste into a resource, and for this we need new professionals competent with new technologies", she concluded.
THEagreement, which is part of the initiatives promoted by the European Union on the occasion of the 2023/2024 training year as the European Year of Skills, aims to create real centers of professional excellence that can bring young people closer to the world of work also through the acquisition of specific and certified skills. This is a first step in relation to which further developments are being evaluated and hypothesized which could also involve the professional training centers of Roma Capitale. The objective is to create ever closer synergies between the world of professional education and training and that of the labor market with the creation of professional profiles that have specialized qualifications to be included in company paths, with particular reference to the sectors of interest of Ama and other companies in the sector.
“With this agreement, which follows the one already launched with Leonardo, we are going to close agreements with partners, branding the laboratories and training kids on machinery and professional sectors that companies tell us are required by the market – were the words of the councilor Delegate for Education Policies of the Metropolitan City of Rome, Daniel Parrucci -. We are also preparing a media campaign on buses and the subway. Starting from the second year, the kids will have the opportunity to gain experience in the company itself. We will therefore try to facilitate their entry into the world of work. We expect the courses to start already for the 2024-25 school year, but the real strength will be for the following year,” she concluded.
